New feature: Digg engine
We added support to search in another popular service: Digg.
Of course, it comes with settings, refinements, tooltip... So, if you like digg, this engine is a must.
The "add engine" section has been tweaked a little; now there's a "Targeted" section, which is meant to be the place for all engines that target a specific service, like Wikipedia, Twitter, Digg...
We're planning to include at least two more engines in the near future, but first we want to implement a help section to explain how to use Nibbo. Stay tuned!
Minor updates
We just updated Nibbo with the following changes:
- Clicking on the preview header will open that preview engine as the main search. To toggle it (like before), click on the arrow next to the icon, or edit that engine settings in the control panel. In the case the old mode is preferred, a new "Options" panel has been added to the control panel, which contains a setting to change this functionality and make it exactly like before.
- Now it's possible to change the order of the elements of the search results page. Go to the "Options" section in the control panel, and check the "Results page order" setting. The tooltip will be repositioned at the left of the previews column if necessary.
Have fun!
New feature: related searches
A couple of days ago we added a new engine type: related searches. New visitors will get it automatically, but if you visited Nibbo before, and can't see it, make sure to add it.
What does it? For a given query, it will report up to 8 alternative searches (the tooltip preview will show the first four). Just click on the alternative search, and it will be opened with the current search engine. Together with the refinements and the autocomplete search bar makes Nibbo a very powerful tool to optimize your search query.
We have more engines on our pipeline, so keep an eye on this blog!
