New feature: Additional search preview results

All search previews now have 2 arrows at their bottom-right corner; those arrows can be used to scroll through the results for that search.

This is quite useful, as now it's not necessary to fully open that search in order to be able to see additional results.

We also updated the Digg search, as the specification for their API changed, but we also decided to improve it a bit.

New feature: Bing engine

Today we're releasing yet another search engine type: Bing web results. With this, the results for both Google and Bing can be easily compared. Also, we change the default for the "General" tab to include it.

We'll also be adding support for Bing images and news, and we also have some exciting improvements coming.

New feature: Tabs

The results page now has tabs below the search bar, which is a great way to organize the search engines; there are some defined by default, but it's possible to add, modify or delete them from the settings panel.

We'll be adding a few more search types, and then we'll focus on themes.

Enhanced image search

We've been at work to improve our search engine; one of the enhancements we're most proud of is the new image full preview mode for the image search.

If you click on an image, a full screen view of the source image will appear. If that image is larger than your browser size, just hover your mouse cursor over it and magnifying glass will show you the full detail. We'll probably extend this feature to the Flickr search engine too.

Thanks for using Nibbo!

Nibbo 2.0

So, you haven't heard from us for a while, but that doesn't mean we're not around; we just released a large update to Nibbo!

So, what has changed?

  • The results page layout is now "liquid"; it will adapt to the size of your screen.
  • Added cache link and preview option to web, wiki and custom search engines.
  • Additional results will load in the same page, so pagination has been removed.
  • Fast history navigation for browsers that support it (Firefox, Opera and Safari).
  • Site icons ("favicons") shown next to search results.

We hope you like it!

User interface tweaks

During the past few days we've been adding a few tweaks on the user interface:

  • The previews and options columns in the search results screen will now follow the scroll. As this can be distracting for some people, a new option has been added to disable this behavior.
  • Added a "See more" link to the previews panels and tooltips, which will set that search type as the main one.

We hope you like the changes! Feel free to comment about them or drop us a line.
